Earthtone School of Music BAND INSTRUMENT LESSONS Horns - A Lost Tradition Gone are the days of society balls, the Big Band, Dixieland jazz and the Local Musicians Union. The role of brass and wind instruments in today’s culture has been largely forgotten and replaced by the popularity of the 4-piece rock-band formula. Every so often you’ll hear about a Jazz Big-band concert for free at a local park or a similar jazz band featured at a Jazz Festival. Very rarely will you even see a horn section in a modern performing group. Even more rare is the elementary public school music program which was once the breeding ground of yesterday’s brass and wind players. We want to bring these sounds back into mainstream and become, once again, a foundation to the sound of large and small music groups alike. Jazz, Rock and Roll, today's Pop, Modern Alternative Rock are missing these wonderful and unique sounds! We want our brass and wind students to come to know the instrument as it was once taught in our culture, rooted within a traditional approach to music education. Our modern approach to traditional teaching methods for brass and winds instruction fosters a student’s musical creativity promoting the development of proper mental and physical habits to ensure lasting personal growth and love of music! CLICK FOR SCHEDULING AND TUITION INFORMATION We welcome beginning brass and wind students. Our current students travel from all over Sacramento county and outlying regions to attend our programs. Through consistency of regular coaching, our teachers pay specific attention to a student’s development based on the student’s natural talents and abilities. Our students learn to read and improvise and also receive training in the development of proper technique providing any student optimum musical growth, advancement and lasting skills.
Brass and winds lessons are a great place to start exploring music as a beginning for students of all ages! We recommend our youngest students interested in the trumpet or saxophone be at least 7 years old. Older students often transition to the sax from the clarinet. Adult students find success and peace in music lessons allowing time to take a break from the stress of the fast paced world we live in! *Musicianship * Technique * Artistry * |

We focus attention to the development of the artistry of each student. Providing performance opportunities in live and studio settings, our students have a “real world” experience as music students. Our annual student recitals provide the experience of preparing repertoire for solo and ensemble performances. Earthtone Productions provides the assistance in producing demo recordings for students to be used as a means to further showcase a student’s talents and musical achievements. We offer the tools of our STATE OF THE ART recording studio specifically to facilitate the advanced student’s experience in the music recording environment. The recording experience proves to be very unique and different from the live performance experience because of the nature of the music recording process. Demonstration recordings are produced with assistance by Earthtone School of Music’s director and can be used to further a student’s educational and career opportunities. |
